Nahdlatul Ulama Scholarship (NU Scholarship) has officially opened applications for the Islamic Civilization Scholarship 2026, a program designed for international students who wish to pursue Islamic studies in Indonesia. The scholarship is available for Bachelor’s (S1) and Master’s (S2) degrees, with the application deadline set for April 30, 2026.
This scholarship program is organized by NU Scholarship in collaboration with various partners, including BAZNAS, as part of its commitment to expanding access to inclusive and globally oriented Islamic education. Selected recipients will study at KH. Abdul Chalim University in Mojokerto, East Java, focusing on developing a moderate understanding of Islam rooted in the rich intellectual tradition of pesantren.
In addition to academic opportunities, participants will also experience life in a supportive academic and residential environment that fosters intellectual, spiritual, and cultural growth.
Application Requirements include:
1. Maximum age of 30 years;
2. Curriculum Vitae (CV);
3. Completed registration form;
4. High school diploma or equivalent (legalized by the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia/KBRI in the applicant’s country);
5. Valid passport;
6. A 4 x 6 color photograph with a red background;
7. Motivation letter;
8. Recommendation letter from the applicant’s previous educational institution or PCINU in the respective country;
9. A stamped statement letter confirming the applicant’s commitment to completing their studies on time and not being involved in prohibited organizations, supported by a Police Clearance Certificate or an official letter from the Indonesian Embassy (KBRI).

The Person in Charge of the Islamic Civilization Scholarship, Najih Arramadoni, stated that this program reflects NU’s commitment to building an inclusive Islamic civilization that contributes to the global community.
“This scholarship is not only about formal education, but also about building global networks and introducing the friendly, moderate, and civilized face of Indonesian Islam to the world,” said Najih.
He further emphasized that Indonesia, particularly through Nahdlatul Ulama, holds a unique Islamic tradition that is relevant in addressing today’s global challenges.
“We want international students not only to study in classrooms, but also to directly experience pesantren life and the values of tolerant and contextual Islam,” he added.
